The Alde Garde Club
The "Alde Garde" is in fact no real wargames club at all, we just use the name to present demos of our games at various wargames shows. The whole "club" can be seen in the photograph on the right side; Peter is on the right, Jan on the left.
We live near the city of Venlo, which is in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands, not far from the German border.

And of course, the name points to our combined age (combined 120+).
The photo is some years old (from 2008), so we may have collect some more (overstatement?) grey hair and some (definitely understatement!) weight.

We try to present wargames at various shows or other events. Sometimes it is a new game, sometimes a "recycled" one but even in this last category we add new features (new figures, terrain and other ideas).
We like to talk to visitors about the hobby, have always information folders available about our games, so please don't hesitate to approach us at shows.

As can be seen on the other pages, we are interested in historical wargames and even sometimes more interested in history then in the wargame itself. If you have any questions about the presented information please contact us.

So again, thanks for joining us and hopefully we can restore all the information of our old site and put in some new information. And if you want to reach us look under "links".

What do we play?
At the moment we play (if we can find the time) the various periods underneath but we always have a tendency to use Dutch themes or armies:
In 25mm:
-the Medieval period in the Netherlands (Hail Ceasar rules)
-Early Renaissance in the Netherlands (around 1507-1515) (Pike & Shotte)
-Nine Years War ( Beneath the Lily Banners or for short BLB-rules)
-
the early years (1792-1797) of the French Revolution. We are using "Over the hills"on the moment.

in 20mm:
-1914 World War one (Old Contemptables rules)

in 15mm:
-80 Years' War in the Netherlands (we have to decide which rules to use as we have used the old George Gush rules)

-War of the Austrian Succession in Europe and the Seven Years War in India. We have used Warfare in the Age of Reason (slow), Black Powder (periodic sphere lacking) and now playtesting the new Honours of War.
- Napoleonic: 1809 Austrian campaign and the Peninsular War (Over the Hills); some Dutch Kingdom of Holland troops appear on the table

Planned is:
- In 28mm: the early years 80 years War in the Netherlands (on a smaller scale then the period in 15mm) but waiting for the correct figures for this time frame although The Assault Group is coming to the rescue as they are bringing out Dutch figures for this period
